Happy Wheels has just been released at a time when the tragic and blasphemous demise of Flash is imminent. That was quite a tense moment. We apologize for any inconvenience caused. We hope the worry over losing Happy Wheels hasn’t kept you from enjoying a restful night’s sleep. If you weren’t aware that the game was in development, here’s some exciting news: this is the first official public release. Please bear with us as we work to fix any remaining bugs.
While I still prefer the Flash version, what I appreciate about this new edition is its excellent performance on mobile devices. Currently, there are no on-screen controls for mobile gameplay—instead, this feature will be added in an upcoming update. Thank you for your patience. If you’re eager to try it out on your phone right now, a Bluetooth keyboard works wonderfully.
Although I initially promised the game would run at 60 frames per second, some of the more challenging levels may experience slight frame drops at that rate. Fortunately, this setting can be adjusted, and I may host a version running at 60 Hz on a separate page for users with high-performance CPUs. Overall, Happy Wheels JS strives to be a faithful replica of the original in both design and gameplay. The database of users, levels, and replays remains unchanged since the initial release—only the impending doom of the universe’s end has been averted.
